In 2022, Sebastian Herkner collaborated once again with Ligne Roset to introduce the Janus cabinet, for which he personally selected all the finishes. The distinctive feature of this furniture piece lies in its doors, designed to be both openable and closed. The name Janus comes from the name of the Roman god that symbolizes beginnings and endings and helds a significant place in Roman veneration as an "authentic" god, distinct from those inherited from the Greek Pantheon.

Also, the name Janus (Ianus in Latin, as the alphabet lacked the letter J) is etymologically connected to the word "ianua," meaning door, and Janus himself is designated as the "ianitor" – the guardian of the heavenly gates. The Janus cabinet pays homage to this rich symbolism, combining functionality with a nod to the god's role as the guardian of transitions and doorways.
